The AK4 bears the unmistakable signature of Alex Kremer and expands the multi-faceted and extremely popular AK1 series with a fully-fledged AK4 model for hunting and outdoor use. Shaped by crystal-clear air and the endless expanses of Scandinavia, the knifemaker, who was born in Fulda in 1993, has channelled his Nordic moments into the AK4 and perfectly tailored the fixed blade to the increased demands of nature lovers and hunters.
The powder-metallurgical CPM-3V blade steel boasts legendary edge-retention, an impressive hardness of 61±1 HRC and combines unprecedented shock load tolerance with break resistance and shatter resistance. The drop-point blade with a high-point grind has always been the first choice for hunters for cutting up large and small game, while the continuous, wide tang takes the strain out of demanding work such as carving wood or batoning.
In addition to the modern, eye-catching look, the screwed Micarta handle scales ensure an excellent grip. The neat silhouette is rounded off by the concealed lanyard hole at the end of the handle for attaching lanyards. Supplied with a perfectly fitting Kydex sheath and plenty of spirit of discovery.
Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.
Fantastic Blade!
Bought as a lightweight hiking/backpacking knife, was initially skeptical about the handle design as I am personally more used to Fallkniven-style straight handles. Holding this knife for the first time, your fingers fall exactly where they are meant to, feels very natural! Blade is very, very sharp, and micarta scales feel grippy yet comfortable against the hand. Despite the light weight, this knife does feel like you can put it through it's paces without worrying about hearing a horrible snapping sound. Kydex sheath is nice and low profile, comes with belt clip which I didn't know about but was welcome! Only small niggle is the kydex sheath seems a tad tight to begin with, but I assume this will loosen with time and use. This knife has automatically earned a permanent spot in my backpack, amazing hiking knife! Would recommend.
