- Type: Workshop
- Item Number: 09MW291
Due to the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), unfortunately no workshops will take place in the next few months.
The knife is the oldest tool of the human being. The need for a sharp blade is just as old and still very topical today. According to a survey, blunt knives are used in over 90 percent of households in Germany. There is a lack of know-how to sharpen the blades sensibly. This is where the specially designed Boker Knife Sharpening Workshop comes in. In cooperation with Ralf Jahn, expert for exclusive sharpening workshops, the craftsmanship of traditional sharpening will be demonstrated in simple and practical steps.
Using the entire infrastructure of the Boker Knife Manufactory, you will learn under the guidance and active support of Ralf Jahn how to properly sharpen a blade on a natural stone and/or waterstone and how to carry out minor repairs on the blade yourself. The workshop lasts about four hours and is the unique opportunity to work in a real knife manufactory. To get into the right mood for the fascinating world of knives, a tour of the factory tour takes place in advance.
The only condition for participation is the interest in sharpening knife blades in a professional working environment and a good mood. It makes the most sense and fun if you bring some of your own knives with you, whether kitchen or pocket knives. All other materials for sharpening a knife will be provided.
Since an individual and professional care is to be guaranteed, the workshop is limited to ten participants. Grinding stones and accessories can be purchased after the seminar. The knife sharpening workshop is specially designed for all those interested in knives who would like to acquire a sound basic knowledge of a sharp blade. In small steps, the art of traditional sharpening is explained to you in great detail, both theoretically and practically.
The course will be held in German. Participation in the event is at your own risk. The participants are not liable for any damages neither to each other nor to the supervisors and the organizer. This exclusion of liability does not apply in cases of intent or gross negligence. In the interest of all participants and the organizer, each participant must prove the existence of a private liability insurance.
Should it not be possible for you to attend the booked workshop, please inform us immediately, but no later than 14 days before the beginning of the workshop, and we will refund the payment made. If the booked workshop is cancelled after this period, cancellation costs amounting to 50% of the payment already made will be incurred. If you do not appear at the booked date without prior notice, this workshop will be considered as "attended" and the costs will not be refunded.
