Replica of Sting, the original sword from the movie. A legendary Elvish dagger. It was forged in Gondolin during the First Age. During their legendary journey to the Lonely Mountain with Thorin & Co. the companions were caught by trolls who wanted to kill them and eat them. After Gandalf had vanquished the trolls with his cunning, in the troll cave alongside the swords Glamdring and Orcrist they found a dagger in a leather sheath. Bilbo took it for himself, as for him it was as good as a short sword. On the basis of the runes embossed on the dagger, Elrond realised it was an elfish weapon that glows in the dark when Orcs were nearby. In Mirkwood, Bilbo gave it the name Sting, because it had given good service protecting him from the forest spiders and was apparently made to cut through cobwebs. In Rivendell in 3019, Bilbo gave Sting and the mithril coat of mail to Frodo, who took on the task of carrying the Master Ring to Mordor so that it could be destroyed there. In the Mines of Moria and the Forest of Lothlorien, Sting shone with a blue light, indicating the presence of orcs nearby, and on the Pass of Cirith Ungol, Sam saved Frodo's life with this weapon, by injuring Shelob with it and putting her to flight.
