The Eickhorn Aviator I is a high-performance, fixed-blade rescue knife designed specifically for aircrew members of NATO military aircraft (NATO Stock No. 1095-25-151-1583). Engineered as a professional survival and rescue tool, it features a durable sandwich-construction blade made from Eickhorn Professional Steel (HRC 56), capable of cutting through laminated aircraft glass with remarkable efficiency. The tactical black Kalgard coating minimizes reflections and provides reliable surface protection. Built for real-world functionality, the Aviator I includes an integrated strap cutter that allows quick and effortless cutting of seat belts or harnesses. A partial serrated edge further expands the knife’s versatility in demanding situations. The ergonomically shaped, electrically insulated handle is made of glass-fiber reinforced nylon, ensuring a secure grip even in challenging environments. A glass breaker at the end of the handle adds another level of emergency utility, while a lanyard hole enables additional retention options. The package includes a rugged Cordura sheath with a reinforced plastic insert and U.S. MOLLE attachment system, making it easy to mount on gear vests or survival rigs. Also included are leg straps for optional thigh carry and a diamond sharpening plate for quick edge maintenance in the field. Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

The company was founded in 1865 by Carl Eickhorn in the blade city of Solingen. The family history stretches far back into the 14th century, when the name was first mentioned in connection with knives. The company initially specialized in the production of edged weapons for the military. Today, Eickhorn offers a select range of military knives, hunting knives, rescue knives and chef's knives made in Solingen.
