My Favorite Knife | Messerschmiede Kneissler

Where Bollenhut (Black Forest ball hat) and cuckoo clock meet cherry cake and hearty ham, the Black Forest is not far away. With its varied landscapes and many days of sunshine, the low mountain range in Baden-Württemberg is one of the most popular destinations in Germany and also forms one of the strongest economic and cultural centers in the "Ländle" (Swabian word for Baden-Württemberg). The region thus offers versatility in nature, economy and culture true to the Swabian motto: "We can do everything except speaking high german!"

A true Black Forest institution, however, is located in the tranquil town of Zell am Harmersbach. Founded in 1875, the Kneissler cutlery is already being run with heart and soul by Wilhelm and Elke Kneissler in the fifth generation. The family business masterfully combines the traditional values of cutlery with a modern corporate image. In addition to the workshop, where knives are re-sharpened and repaired, customers receive a comprehensive overview of the versatile assortment in the avant-garde designed sales premises: "The focus is always on individual and customized advice for the customer in a pleasant atmosphere." The portfolio here includes pocket knives, chef's knives, razors, scissors, and various household items such as pans or cookie cutters. The cherry on top of the Black Forest forge cake are the classic Kneissler pocket knives manufactured in-house. Wilhelm Kneissler was born with a passion for knives: "In a knifemaking dynasty, this enthusiasm is passed on to a certain extent. I received my very first knife from my father in 1972. It was a homemade lumberjack's knife with a blade and a wood ripper."

Especially as a master of his trade, the owner has a high demand on the quality of a product. The range therefore consists only of selected products from renowned manufacturers. Boker has been one of the proud partners of the traditional company for more than 50 years and is looking forward to the continued cooperation, which is always characterized by great respect and mutual appreciation.

Willhelm "Willi" Kneissler is particularly fond of a holy blade from Boker. The Optima Rosewood is one of the most popular hunting knives of all because it is as versatile as hardly any other knife. Thanks to various interchangeable blades and the robust workmanship, the Boker Optima Palisander is a faithful companion for hunting and leisure. "In addition, the knife is still visually very appealing and meets almost everyone's taste due to the different scales of the Optima series. It fits super in the hand even in large men's hands and is very well received by my customers." Willi Kneissler himself has been one of the proud owners of this knife for years.

So if the Black Forest ham is not as easy to cut as usual, the following advice is recommended: "Isch mol wiedr schdumbf des Messr, der Kneissler machd's wiedr besser." (Swabian: „Do you have some blunt knives, Mr Kneissler will sharpen them, yeah nice.
