Even Hans Albers sang about the pleasurable atmosphere of Hamburg in his well-known folk song and recommends a visit "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins" (On the Reeperbahn at half past midnight). But also during the day the Hanseatic city on the Elbe offers many impressive facets such as the Hamburg harbor or the world-famous Speicherstadt ... fish rolls and bad weather included.
But also a look far away from the tourist magnet points is worthwhile. In the north-western district of Hamburg- Eidelstedt you will find the specialist store Waffen Hansen, founded in 1992 by Jens-Peter Hansen and managed by owner Sven Brütt since 2008. The extensive assortment includes a wide variety of weapons and, since 2000, increasingly articles from the outdoor and security equipment sector.
It is initially surprising that owner Sven Brütt was for a long time rather Nordic cold on the subject of knives: "I probably received my first knife in the German Army. I never had much interest in it before". This changed abruptly, however, when in 2001 he held a simple 39 D-Mark knife in one hand - and a high-quality Chris Reeve knife for 400 D-Mark in the other. The enthusiasm and interest in high-quality knives grew steadily, so that Sven Brütt added Boker knives to his range of products in the early 2000s. The cooperation was constantly deepened and a pleasant business relationship developed, which is still characterized by high mutual esteem today: "Especially in the beginning, Boker made a lot possible and tried out a lot with us. Special highlights for us were the two CDC (Custom Design Collection) special models of Boker in small series, for which our business was the godfather. It was also exciting to get to know the large circle of Boker dealers at the exclusive company events".
Another personal highlight is the "Boker Plus Cox" series, penned by knife designer Jens Ansø. Especially the Boker Plus Cox Pro Cocobolo convinces Sven Brütt due to the harmonic choice of materials as well as the practical suitability for everyday use for the user according to §42a of the German law. "I like to present the Cox. The design, blade shape and feel are just right. The fans of the Cox and Haddock are still to come". Sven Brütt is sure.
In addition to the well-founded advice, his customers also appreciate the personally familiar atmosphere in his business. The motto for knife lovers on the Elbe and Alster rivers is therefore: "Nich lang schnacken - bi Waffen Hansen kieken un 'n Mest kopen" (Do not lose any time, go to Waffen Hansen and buy a knife.)
