The Fjording 50 aar (translation: Fjording 50 years) preserves many of the defining, innovative features of the original design. It has the same, short and stubby blade shape and contoured handle that means it excels at carving and woodworking. It also comes with a wrap-around style sheath, which you can secure to your belt or backpack and keep it securely in its place. At the same time, Helle has upgraded the materials on the knife. While the original came with a thinner carbon steel, the blade on the Fjording 50 aar is in Helle's thicker laminate H3LC steel. On the handle, they have added some styling and modern materials. The original was a one-piece birch handle. The Fjording 50 aar features a stunning, composite handle made out of curly birch, stabilised, green curly birch and leather. The “Helle-colored” green curly birch in the handle represents both how important this design has been for the brand, but also the new techniques that Helle are embracing. The wrap-around sheath is made in high-grade, tan leather. The Fjording 50 aar honors an important part of the Helle legacy while bringing the execution in to the 21st century, and as such follows in line with the other limited edition designs.

Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

Helle

It all began in 1932, when brothers Steinar and Sigmund Helle turned their passion into a profession in a small forge on their family farm in the picturesque village of Holmedal on the breathtaking west coast of Norway. Inspired by their father, the village blacksmith, they set about designing knives that perfectly combine form and function. Today, their legacy lives on as their grandchildren continue to work with skilled local craftsmen in the same village. Surrounded by majestic mountains and deep fjords, the Helle team is still driven by the same mission: To make knives that not only work, but also connect with the beauty of nature.
