The Spyderco Yurco Ginunting combines traditional Filipino blade design with modern manufacturing quality and hard-use performance. Designed in collaboration with Mickey Yurco—a retired law enforcement officer, veteran SWAT team member, martial artist, and experienced custom knifemaker—this exceptional fixed blade delivers a powerful fusion of functionality, control, and cultural heritage. Inspired by the traditional ginunting sword of the southern Philippines, the design has been refined into a modern tactical and outdoor cutting tool with outstanding handling characteristics.
The flat-ground blade is crafted from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel, offering an excellent balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and durability. Its distinctive concave blade profile creates exceptional leverage and cutting power while naturally orienting the tip for precise thrusting capability and controlled cutting performance. A pronounced harpoon-style swedge reinforces the acute point while maintaining structural strength for demanding cutting tasks. The unique ginunting-inspired blade geometry delivers highly dynamic handling and impressive cutting efficiency in both tactical and utility applications.
The ergonomic full-tang handle features contoured and polished G10 handle scales securely fastened with durable stainless steel Torx hardware. An integrated lower guard enhances grip security and control during intensive use, while the flared fantail butt supports confident handling during rapid manipulation. A generously sized lanyard hole adds versatile carry and retention options for outdoor and professional environments.
The knife comes complete with a custom-molded Boltaron sheath equipped with a belt mount for secure carry and fast access. Combining traditional Filipino blade inspiration, modern materials, and uncompromising functionality, the Spyderco Yurco Ginunting is an outstanding fixed blade for tactical applications, outdoor use, training, and professional environments.
Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

Spyderco
In 1981 Sal Glesser and his wife Gail revolutionized the knife industry. In the small town of Golden, not far from Colorado's capital Denver, they founded the now world-famous knife brand Spyderco. Today, Spyderco is still a true pioneer, constantly developing and testing new materials and mechanisms. Over the years, Spyderco has been able to make a name for itself worldwide as an innovative manufacturer of high-quality pocket knives and fixed knives and is now a supplier to numerous police and military forces around the world. For the precise production of the knives, modern high-quality materials are used. Low manufacturing tolerances and high demands on their own work thus inevitably lead to absolutely reliable and practical knives that will not be compromised even under tough conditions.
