The home of the world-famous Laguiole Knives is located in Thiers, a small town in Auvergne, France, famous for its cutlery for 500 years. Originally inspired by folding knives from Andalusia, the elegant knives with the famous bee, the Napoleonic heraldic animal, have been made there for generations in various forms. Ideal for everyday use, these knives are constant companions of their proud owners and are now an expression of the French way of life.

Only the finest olive wood is used for the handmade handle scales. The individually forged and hardened blade made of T12 is stainless and satinized matte. The traditional slipjoint pocketknife opens with a nail nick. The steel has a hardness of 57 to 58 HRC, which makes the blade very resilient and usually keeps its sharpness for several years. The liners and bolsters are made of Inox stainless steel and are also satinized. The bee and back spring are hand-chased, turning the knife into a true collector's item.

Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

Forge de Laguiole

Forge de Laguiole was founded in 1987 and creates high-quality Lagiole pocket knives according to old and traditional craftsmanship. Thus a knife does not go through many hands like in an industrial production, but is manufactured by one of the numerous knifemakers from beginning to end. All the operations, from the forging of the steel, to the machining of the handle scales and the final grinding, are carried out in the Forge de Laguiole workshops themselves. This is how each Laguiole is created as an unique piece of craftsmanship.
