On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Boker Manufactory, the Mayor of Solingen asked us if we could design a high-quality pocketknife in the city colors. He would like to be able to gift such a knife to guests and dignitaries on special occasions. We were honored by the request and it did not take long for us to select the popular and versatile Boker Scout as the base model.

For more than 30 years, the Scout has gained fans among knife enthusiasts around the world with its elegant, timeless lines and sturdy, ergonomic build with a sintered handle. The colors of the City of Solingen are a deep steel blue and golden yellow. Instead of a sintered nickel silver body, the Scout Solingen is the first to have a body of solid brass, solid-milled using CNC technology. Inspired by the great chestnut tree that once stood in front of the first Boker Tool Manufactory, we decided to use blue stabilized chestnut wood for the handle scales. To emphasize the centuries-old tradition of the City of Blades, Solingen, the D2 blade and finished with an authentic acid wash. The fully handcrafted knife made by Boker Manufactory Solingen comes with the new version of the historic Boker tree symbol.

In addition, we would like to use this special knife to revive an old Solingen ritual. Knives are a perfect present, pleasing almost any recipient. However, there is an old saying in the City of Blades, warning that a gifted knife severs the bond of friendship. In order to ward off this unfortunate result, the knife comes with a coin that the recipient gives back to the giver. According to the old custom, this coin is accepted as payment for the knife, no longer making it an unlucky gift. Therefore, each Boker Scout Solingen comes with a handy Boker coin so that it may mark the beginning of many future friendships.

Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

Beautiful knife

This knife has a special meaning by celebrating Solingen. Also a very personal touch for my father, who always looks for something special, and not having seeing him for five years, this wonderful knife with such distinctive features made of it a wonderful gift.

Aussergewöhnlich

Ein aussergewöhnliches Messer, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Blaues Kastanienholz und grauer C75-Stahl eingebettet in gelb-schimmernde Griffkörper aus Messing.
Wird es nicht als Sammlermesser genutzt wird es altern, das Messingg wird anlaufen, die nicht-rostfreie Klinge ist schon grau. Das Messer wird also auf Dauer bewusst Alterungserscheinungen zeigen. Das Messer will gepflegt werden.
Dafür ist es sau-scharf und lässt sich auch prima selbst schärfen. Wie jedes Scout liegt es perfekt in der Hand, ist aber etwas schwer.

Kein Messer für jedermann aber durch den Materialmix in den Solinger Farben eben aussergewöhnlich.

Tolles Taschenmesser

Ich habe das Messer als geschenk für meinen Mann gekauft - er ist begeistert! Die Farben sind wirklich außergewöhnlich, sowas habe och bei einem Messer noch nie gesehen. Sehr schön :)
